Legislative Update: 2/10 - 2/23

Promoting Education Solutions

I spent the past few weeks meeting with stakeholders and promoting two of my education bills: 1) HB 245, the "Georgia Educational Opportunity Act"; and 2) HB 310, the "Student Teacher Promotion Act".

From press conferences to panels, walking meetings with student teachers to co-hosting Afterschool Day at the Capitol, I have enjoyed discussing the significance of solutions to support our children, educators, and college students passionate about entering the teaching profession.

Special thanks to the following groups for your advocacy and support: Georgia Statewide Afterschool Network (GSAN), Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), and the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE).

The Protect the Dream Act Gets a Hearing!

I will present HB 305, the "Protect the Dream Act" to the Governmental Affairs committee this Tuesday, February 25th at 3pm!

The committee hearing will take place in room 506 at the Coverdell Legislative Building.  This is a big first step toward lowering prices and ensuring that more homes stay in the hands of people — not corporations.  Below are a few local stories that covered the bill and I look forward to keeping you updated on its progress.
