MEET PHIL

Phil Olaleye was elected in 2022 to represent Georgia House District 59, serving parts of Atlanta and East Point. At the State Capitol, he's focused on expanding opportunity for working families — helping secure nearly $30 million for Atlanta Technical College to expand job training, championing $15 million in additional school funding for students living in poverty, and passing legislation through the House to support aspiring teachers. He's also introduced legislation to tackle housing affordability, limit corporate home buying, and expand access to early childhood education.

The son of immigrants, Phil grew up in a working-class family in Stone Mountain, taking two buses and traveling two hours each way to attend a good public school. He later worked at Waffle House to help support his single mother and family. Those experiences shaped his belief that every child deserves a fair shot, regardless of their background or zip code. Today, he serves as Executive Director of Next Generation Men & Women, connecting Atlanta students to workplaces, professionals, and opportunities that can shape their futures. A graduate of Duke University and Harvard Kennedy School, Phil previously served in the U.S. Peace Corps, worked at WorkSource Atlanta, and led the Summerhill neighborhood association.

Phil lives in Summerhill with his wife, Sabrina Gómez Olaleye, and their two sons, August and Antony.
